During the third fishing week the Belousiha river lodge was visited by guests. Andrew came to South Africa, Switzerland and Russia.
The weather during the week was pleasant, with winds blowing mainly from the south. Several days were cloudy and rainy. Air temperature 9 – 23 degrees during the week.
In the Belousiha the water has warmed up to 14 degrees, the level is gradually decreasing, closer to average. In Voronya the water level is average. Temperature – 9 degrees.
This year, fresh salmon run delayed on all rivers of the Kola Peninsula. Salmon entered the rivers three to four weeks later than usual. This week was the first in which a MASSIVE migration of salmon from the sea was noted. Fish began to appear not individually, but in groups throughout the entire the Belousiha River, which had a very positive effect on fishing.
Salmon were caught in all areas and pools. Three Steps, Golden and Second Glinka performed best. As the water level dropped, we switched to summer flies in sizes 10-14. The takes were good on Undertaker and Cascade, and a few fish were also caught on Golden Killer.
In addition to salmon, it was very interesting to catch trout and grayling using dry flies. More than three dozen sea and “domestic” trout were caught in both the upper and lower pools.
We spent 2 days on Voronya. The fish also begins to identify itself with it rises. The water is gradually falling. Both days we lost 2 big fish on Red Francis and Sunray shadow.
During the week we managed to catch 17 fish, 12 were missed.
Andrew and Christophe fished great, although they couldn’t surpass their results from the 2022 and 2019 seasons, but they could have if did not lost the fish on Voronya.
Igor L, who is very new fly fisherman, managed to catch salmon only on the fourth day, but after training on the more than ten brown trout, the acquired fishing skill did not let him down. His persistence in mastering the casting technique under the guidance of instructors gave a results. The cast is far, the fish is caught and delivered to the landing net.
Igor R is the clear favorite of the week in terms of the number of fish caught, not a single empty day!!!!!
We look forward to our guests in the coming seasons.
