Week 24. June 15-22, 2024
In the first week the Belousiha met guests from Moscow Leonid, Alexander, Alexei, Mikhail and Victor, who visited us in previous seasons, as well as Tatyana from St. Petersburg, who was with us in 2014,2015. On Wednesday, they were joined by a Muscovite - Denis.
The weather at the beginning of the week - southern winds, the air temperature warmed up to + 20, in the second half of the week the Kola peninsula showed its character - a muzzle from the north, rains, drizzle and cold + 4.
There is a lot of water in Belousiha, it falls rapidly until it rains. Temperatures 9 -14 degrees. The Voronya is full of water, but not critical, + 7. Fishing is pretty comfortable.
We spent almost the whole week on the Belousiha, fishing on most pools. Not all guests were keen to catch the first fresh fish of the 2024 season, Victor and Mikhail came first of all to improve their fly fishing skills.
In the very first days, good fishing began, a lot of fish attacked the flies, and the first 2 fresh salmon on Monday were already caught. An interesting point: the fish is the size of a grilse, which should enter rivers a couple of weeks later.
In the lower sections of the river, a lot of sea trout was concentrated, which actively helped our guests to master the technique of fly fishing laning and manage the fish. More than 30 were caught in a week. There were some more than 5 pounds.
In the second half of the week, a battle took place in the canyon of the Belousikha River among sharp stones, a stormy, formidable current and barely blooming small birches, in which Tatiana won a strong-willed victory over incredibly beautiful Atlantic salmon! After a long battle, a 85x47 cm fish was led into a landing net and a joyful echo scattered across the canyon.
On the same day, Mikhail was defeated on the Three Steps from the same silvery large salmon, almost brought to the hookup, as a cunning fish bent the hook of the fly and went to the stream.
In the middle of the week we went to the Voronya, there was a lot of water, but it was comfortable to catch. Two last year fish were caught 87 and 93 cm on Power Pool.
In general, not as many fish run the rivers as we expected, but such dynamics can be traced on most rivers of the Kola Peninsula. Including the kelts, about 30 fish were caught. This year's run was clearly delayed, as a spring.
Still, the season opener went off with a bang. The charisma and cheerful mood of our guests were accompanied by fishing, as well as evening gatherings, where the favorite of the day was chosen daily, for which everyone raised glasses together!
The largest fish caught on the Belousikha River is 85 cm.
The largest fish caught on the Voronya River is 93 cm.
