The season is in full swing! Week goes by week. The 4th visit to the Belousiha river lodge turned out to be loud and fun!
A group of friends from the “Sugudai” fishing club came to visit us from Moscow, Krasnodar, Baku and Kazan. The main tasks for teammates are to catch their first Atlantic salmon, enjoy the nature of the Russian North, and also learn fly fishing.
The weather this week was wonderful. The sun was shining brightly, the winds blew away mosquitoes and midges, sending our lines in the right direction - to the fish spots. It rained for several days and there was a thunderstorm. However, the fishing was comfortable. The water in Belousiha warmed up to 15 degrees, the level was maintained by precipitation. On Voronya the situation is unstable - the first two days of the week the level was average, after which the water rose by 70 cm.
On Voronya, on the very first day, we caught two good fish of 90 cm. Later, the water level rose and the guests concentrated on Belousiha; most came with one-handed rods, which are very convenient for fishing and learning on a small river.
Fish continue to run in the river - on Belousiha they caught sea-liced salmon with every day, and a lot of grilse are coming. The fish are spreading throughout the river, but most of them rush to the upper pools. The most working pools on Belousikha are: Golden, Canyon, Three Steps, both Glinkas, Big Stone. Most of the fish were caught on summer size flies – 12/14 hook. Salmon are very interested in surface baits - skaters, bombers and hitches.
Salmon have also already stay themselves throughout the still water pools of the river. The Aquarium and Crazy pool constantly delight with fish risings. Despite the fact that it’s an even year, a lot of pink salmon came in, so we happily took out last year’s pink streamers, Woolybaggers.
During the week, we managed to land about 40 salmon, there were slightly fewer landings, one of which was truly heartbreaking! A huge meter-long salmon, found behind a stone in Belousihs Lake, made several jumps, reeled in forty meters of line and ran into the rapids in search of freedom - we never saw salmon and the leader with the fly again.
The week turned out to be interesting, every day teammates handed the leader’s yellow jersey to the most successful angler, the guitar strings could barely hold on from the tension, and even the bears heard the songs behind the distant hill.
